DOJ seeks to limit attorney fees in USDA discrimination lawsuit

The Department of Justice is asking a federal judge to limit attorneys fees for the plaintiffs in the Keepseagle case.

The attorneys asked for $60.8 million. The Obama administration says they are only entitled to $30.4 million, or half of the request.

The fee request represents 8 percent of the $760 million settlement that the Indian farmers and ranchers agreed to accept for discrimination at the Department of Agriculture.
